From the Editor
Day 89. The strikes near Bandar Abbas, Sirik and Jask are still going, the IRGC says it fired on a US F-35 and means to answer, and Rubio keeps telling cameras the MOU is days out. I've been hearing “days out” for three weeks now. Meanwhile the S&P closed above 7,500 and Brent slid back under — Wall Street has quietly decided the Strait is someone else's problem. Maybe it's right. Or maybe it's just a market that's stopped flinching. What stays with me tonight is the newer thread: Tehran tying any reopening of Hormuz to a halt in Lebanon. This war keeps finding new rooms to spread into. I keep the receipts because one day “days out” will turn out true, or it won't. Stay close.

Trump Convenes Cabinet As Strikes Near Hormuz Test A Ceasefire Both Sides Say The Other Broke
CENTCOM called Monday night’s strikes on missile sites and mine-laying boats near Bandar Abbas, Sirik and Jask “self-defense”; Tehran called them a clear violation of the Apr 8 truce. The IRGC says it downed an MQ-9 Reaper and fired on an F-35 — then sent its negotiators to Doha anyway. Iran’s delegation, led by Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Araghchi, met Qatari mediators with Central Bank Governor Hemmati in tow to discuss frozen funds. Tehran is now linking any reopening of Hormuz to a halt in Lebanon operations — a new condition that widens the negotiating surface. The 14-point MOU remains unsigned on Day 89. Trump gathers his Cabinet today for the first time since March, with the deal, the drone shoot-down and the question of what “self-defense” means under a ceasefire all on the table.
