FROM THE EDITOR · June 30, 2026

Day 123. Remember yesterday’s question — which lands first, the stand-down ending or the wired funds clearing? Funds, apparently: Tehran’s trip to Doha got reframed as a six-billion-dollar errand. The talks? Witkoff and Kushner flew all the way to Qatar and shook hands with mediators, not Iran. Trump says Tehran asked for the meeting; Tehran says it never spoke to us. They can’t agree on whether the meeting they didn’t have was even requested. That’s the deal in miniature. Meanwhile Iran says it alone clears the mines in Hormuz, waves off French help, and keeps ‘oversight’ for thirty days — while Israel’s defense chief says the war could be back inside two. Crude shrugged; WTI’s drifting toward seventy. Stand-downs hold until they don’t. Pour one.
