[+] 27 Feb 2024
This is the beta of foofaraw[+], the temporary home of something new.
Thanks for coming along for the ride, let me know what you think and if you have any ideas for how it can be improved.

Packed issue for today since I opted not to do one over the weekend. I think that will be the line I draw in the sand for the time being. Maybe if I can get a few paid subscribers, I’ll come up with something to publish over the weekends, but that will be TBD until I see if I get three or twenty people subscribing.

Tyler Perry Puts $800M Studio Expansion On Hold After Seeing OpenAI’s Sora: “Jobs Are Going to Be Lost”
I think it’s pretty despicable of Perry to be this excited and willing to work with AI to replace jobs as someone who is a writer and performer.
Sora cannot and should not replace make-up artists or any talented, creative people. I’m so glad we have auters like Wes Anderson still using miniatures and doing stop-motion. Those are the areas we need to be pushing, not some generative bullshit.
Shameful.
Tom Cruise to Star in New Alejandro Iñárritu Movie – The Hollywood Reporter
As much as I dislike Tom Cruise as a human, when he works with auteur’s he tends to make magic.
Birdman is one of my all-time favorites so anytime Iñárritu is making a film, I’ll be there to watch it.

'Beef' Season 2: Jake Gyllenhaal, Anne Hathaway, Charles Melton, and More Rumored to Star
Stoked!
I’m a little worried that they might be biting off more than they can chew based on the success of season one, but if they have a vision, I’ll follow them—hopefully the two couples + giant stars isn’t something Netflix is pushing and something they actually have a vision for.
Armand Hammer - Doves ft. Benjamin Booker (Official Video)
Do yourself a favor and check out Benjamin Booker. He hasn’t done anything since 2017, but Violent Shiver, Witness, and Right On You are all bangers.
Interesting to see him on an Armand Hammer song given Booker is very much in the heavy blues / rock realm and Armand Hammer are, well, not.
I love both though so seeing them work together, especially after Booker has been quite for so long, is very cool.
