Happy Birthday to Me!
I made this using Affinity Publisher and staged the mockup on https://shots.so
It's My Birthday!
I'm 32 on 3/23/23, so I'm having a font party. And probably going to my favorite local chain because the manager said I'd get a free concha. I was hoping to have public livestreams set up at the new workplace by now, but it just ain't in the cards (or budget) yet. But if you do want to do your friendly font freak a solid in the meantime, my Xbox wish list is public! (Not required, but appreciated!) I need weird little JRPGs to live. Now let's party the Taylor way: finding three small font designers and coveting their wares.
Anolta, by Konstantine Studio (Starting at $10)
Image via Konstantine Studio.
The Official Description
"Anolta is inspired from the anti-design trend nowadays, we tweak up the form of typical sans serif into a new look to step up your visual game in the market.
Perfectly fit for logo, branding, esport branding, apparel, streetwear, poster, music project, album artwork, cover artwork, music video, streaming visuals, animation, and many more."
Taylor's notes: Anolta has a lot of my favorite little font indulgences in one place: wobbly connectors on the A and E, utilizing the uppercase and lowercase to mix styles, and a friendly, no-nonsense feeling. The standard license is generous with usage too, which helps.

Garp Warp, by Drizy Studio (Starting at $12)
Image via Drizy Studio.
The Official Description
"Garpwarp is a Unique Experimental Warped Font from Drizy Studio. Offering the one-of-a-kind look you need for your projects."
Taylor's notes: This is my favorite font with built in scuzz so far. Just the right amount of curving and warping, and they're nice enough to include the regular style for contrast. There are too many individual quirks between each letter for it to be an automated process. Could you get this effect yourself? Sure, but I'm all for working smarter instead.

Carrot, by sgmnt (Starting at $12)
The Official Description
"Carrot is a blocky, yet playful display font with weird proportions. Its unique design is great for bold and not-too-serious creations."
Taylor's notes: A retrofuturistic Y2K font that actually looks accurate to the awkward, blobby quality of the time period? Don't mind if I do. the i and t are nice touches and really help sell the whole thing.

Freebie of the Week
The next time you need to stage a mockup of some sort, look at shots.so! I've been sprucing up images for a deep sigh more business oriented portfolio site and was impressed by how much you can adjust. Here's another example by yours truly.
That's all for this week!
