Denver Pride Festival 2025

| A Day Out

by Florence A.

On Saturday June 28th, I went to my first Pride event. The Denver Pride Festival 2025, organized by The Center on Colfax. The event was held over the weekend, in Downtown Denver.

The day was sunny, partially cloudy at times.

Prior to Saturday, there had been over 500,000 visitors. I arrived a few blocks away and walked over. My pre-event nerves ceasing as I passed the entrance.

For me as an out trans woman and pride newbie — I found the festival goers welcoming. It was refreshing and energizing to be close to my peers. Being that I am not social, I could not help but feel like I had missed out. That left my body quickly however, replaced with the wonderous reality of visual, audible community.

This photo-essay shows my views throughout my 5 hours. Then a few selfies taken before and after the festival’s end.

I was drawn to the Colorado Capitol Building, the courthouse in the background.

Like a melding of promises —

Liberty and Justice for All

— the courthouse says, above an assembly of those promised people.

Across the park, the Capitol Building flies a rainbow flag.

I captured a few video-clips of performances on the main stage:

BiG GaY Jukebox Show - 2

I do not remember the above performers names, for sure. The titles are based on the events calendar.

That is all for this year’s Pride Festival.

The celebration of us, and our history means every day we must show up proud, and in protest for someone unfairly treated by a broken system. Our progress is intertwined.

As we proceed cautiously through the beginning of these major coordinated-political-attacks. We must be ready, assembled and expressive.

Our community, and families must come together to fight for “Liberty and Justice for All”, into the future.
