Letters From Flora: Summer News!

Hello Lovers!

I hope this newsletter finds you enjoying the beautiful summer weather! I have to say, this season has swept me away with all the exciting projects happening here on the homestead. You know how it is, one day you're planning to tackle just a small garden bed and the next day you have three beds, a squash trellis, and a fancy new quail hutch. And the supplies for a dozen more projects

Speaking of the garden, I'm thrilled to report that my summer crops are coming along beautifully! It’s so satisfying to see seeds grow into plants, and over time mature into fruits and vegetables. I have an abundance of basil, tomatoes, squash, cantaloupe and what appears to be a small watermelon. I can’t wait for the moment I can share with my neighbors! I’ve been the recipient of many bundles of summer tomatoes over the years so happy to pay it back.

You might remember me mentioning my quail adventure earlier this year, well, I'm proud to announce that I've now successfully raised THREE generations of these adorable little birds since I wrote last! The last generation I raised included 3 babies from my first generation, I feel like a grandma lol! The youngsters have started laying eggs already and hopefully they will becomes less shy over time. The adult birds know I’m the food lady so they rush the enclosure when they see me in hopes of a meal or at least a little snack! They love watermelon, peaches, squash and plums. They don’t like various herbs or carrots, and of course they like the insect snacks I have for them. I wish I could make a recording of their cute little noises.

Flora holds a very tiny yellow quail chick in her hand.
3 days old, screaming at the top of their lungs! This chick is now a fully grown white quail!

Now, I have a couple of special announcements to share with you all...

Birthday Wishes Coming True

My birthday is just around the corner, and I've been having so much fun putting together a new wishlist on Marigold which gives me more options! I still have my Amazon wish list but wanted to expand to something where I could add more fun stuff :) Between the two of them I have tools for the garden and special fancy things! I would especially love either of the Tom Ford Perfumes, I’m crazy about Lost Cherry and have the travel size. I sampled Rose Exposed and the memory of it lives rent free in my mind, and the scent still lingers on my jacket :)

And a birthday treat for you!

I'm delighted to share something really special with you – I'm partnering with my beautiful  friend Delphine to offer an dinner date duo special to celebrates both of our Birthdays. Our special rate is valid from August 15-Sept 15th and will be $3,000 (usually $4,000). The time includes an evening out for dinner with the both of us and then 1-2 hrs of private time! Reach out to either of us to book!

want to be part of this sandwich?

Maybe a California Adventure?

I've been daydreaming about a potential trip to LA and Santa Barbara at the end of September. I'm still on the fence about making it happen, but if there's enough interest and encouragement, it might just be the push I need to pack my bags and head south! If you're in Southern California and would love to connect in person, please reach out and let me know. Your enthusiasm always helps me make these fun decisions!

Thank you for being part of this journey with me. Your support mean the world, thanks to my you I’m able to rescue animals, create my butterfly garden to help the monarchs and volunteer my time to help others. With my 42nd birthday approaching I’ve been reflective and very grateful.

With love from the homestead, Flora
