Letters from Flora: Spring News!!
I'm buzzing about my new quail babies, blooming poppies, and upcoming trips to Portland and SoCal!
Hello lovers!
Since the equinox, I've been absolutely buzzing with activity in my garden and most excitingly, embarking on my quail-raising adventure! My first batch hatched less than 48 hours ago, and it's been simultaneously beautiful and stress-inducing. They are so fragile, and so foolish! These tiny babies are impossibly cute with their delicate fluff and teeny little peeps. I'm already planning to start a new batch soon!
My dog is also obsessed and has been guarding them dutifully. For those interested, I've added some quail supplies to my wishlist, after round one I realized I need to make some improvements like an incubator with humidity control built it (instead of using sponges, very time consuming).
My California poppy field is finally back in full bloom, and I couldn't be more thrilled! Back in 2020, I did an impromptu photoshoot in some poppies growing in a road median (not the safest location, I know).
I've been dreaming of doing an homage to those photos ever since, but finding a private poppy field proved impossible. Write back if you are curious about the 2 year hunt, happy to elaborate to interested parties. Anyway two years ago, I decided to create my own, and now it's absolutely perfect for photoshoots—a sea of vibrant flowers, a cloud of orange. It’s adored by the bees as well which makes me so happy. And it means I have finally accomplished my goal :)
I'm excited to share that I'll be visiting Portland April 15-18. I have EXTREMELY limited availability, but even if you can’t see me this visit let me know if you are in Portland. I have occasion to visit Portland a little more frequently lately, so I’ll be back soon.
For my Southern California sweeties I will be in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara from May 15-21! The exact dates in each location are still being determined, but I'd love to connect with any of you who might be in the area during that time. 😀

I want to express my deepest gratitude for all your support and inspiration! While the world continues to be stressful in many ways, I've found peace focusing on my little homestead and striving to be the best neighbor I can be. Last month's I hosted a tea party and it was such a delight—seeing friends from different parts of my life connecting and conversing filled my heart. I'm also grateful for the one-on-one connections I get to make through my work. It's easy to feel overwhelmed sometimes, but I always try to center myself by appreciating life's joys—the little creatures, the sweet moments, and the fun adventures that make everything worthwhile. <3

P.S. I also added a new printer to my wishlist. This will allow me to make prints of my photography AND print larger format for protest signs which I have been helping people with lately!
