Letters from Flora: March 2026 tours!
Hello Lovers!
It’s winter everywhere! How has it been treating you? I'm a sun girl at heart (you know this) but I have to say as a gardener I love to see the rain and some cold. The reward? My tulips are starting to push through (they need some cold!) and the other day I spotted my very first open jasmine bloom of the season. Winter is still here but I can feel spring whispering to me! Winter reminds me that everything is a cycle and nothing lasts forever, but it’s important to enjoy where we are now.
A little story about light...
This summer in Los Angeles I had a moment that reminded me of why I love photography so much. I checked into my hotel room, it was beautiful and I got an upgraded to their nicest suite, but the view faced a large mirrored building. Not the most ideal view, and an inauspicious cardinal direction for photography, but I made my peace with it and set about unpacking and relaxing from my drive.
As the sun began to set I noticed it reflected off that mirrored building and beamed the most glorious ray of golden light directly into my room and onto my bed.

I moved fast. Set up the tripod, quickly adjusted the settings on the fly (I always shoot manual). Synced my remote trigger and ran to the bed as fast as I could and snapped a few pics in the hotel bathrobe in the tail end of it. In less than 8 minutes since I noticed it the beam of light was gone but I knew what to do the next day.

The next evening I was more prepared. Hair done, light makeup applied, silly little body suit on. The light moved rapidly so I followed it across the bed for those few minutes and these pics are the result.

Usually I like to take my time and set things up, consider my poses, readjust. But I had no time so I had to rely on my years of experience and I am very pleased with the results. This was a good reminder of me that combining a little planning with a little improvisation makes for fun results :)

Now, some news!
I'm hitting the road in March, California first! If these don’t work I’ll probably be back in June as I’ll be attending a concert :)
Los Angeles — March 3–6
Santa Barbara — March 6–9
Then, drum roll please! I’m finally visiting Chicago!!
Chicago — March 24–29
I am traveling to Chicago for a very important personal project. I will likely be back in Chicago quarterly for the next few years if this initial, investigative visit goes well. So even if you aren’t able to book me this time please reach out so I can know what to expect for future trips!
If you'd like to book a session on any of these dates, the best way is through my website — and if you run into any trouble, just reply to this email and we'll figure it out together.
With great affection, xo Flora Sparks
