Let me plan with you 🗓️, nerd with you 🧟📚, and update you how it's going.
Hey!
How are you?
Me? I am…
Well, honestly. If you’d like an update on how it is really going (with the ridiculous plan of Flock 2.0), scroll to the bottom.
👇
And before that, I talk about:
These weekends. (I often take them myself. They are just that good.)
This discount. (Want to ‘earn’ € 57,50?)
This course. (maybe fun for a friend?)
For experienced players: 2-day intensives

I'm a big fan of this myself: spending a whole weekend diving deep into a subject.
Recently, Anton from Sweden inspired me with two days full of new insights and ideas. I learned so much and laughed so much too.
If you are passionate about improv, I highly recommend you joining these upcoming intensives (Saturday and Sunday, 11:30-17:30).
Upcoming intensives
Sat 18 - Sun 19 October — 1980s American Horror
In short: Improvising characters and scenarios in the style of Stranger Things. Scary horror injected with great comedy. (Check how good these teachers are in this video)
Kids on bikes, synth on the soundtrack, and something evil just beneath the surface.
In this workshop, we explore the genre tropes of 1980s American horror: small towns, ensemble casts, and unpredictable danger. No one is safe, and the monster does not care who is supposed to survive.
This is about committing to the genre and playing like your life depends on it.
This workshop includes a showcase on Sunday afternoon, at 18:00.
Dates: Sat, 18 Oct 25 - Sun, 19 Oct 25
Times: 11:30 - 17:30 (+ showcase)
Location: Flock Studio – Treehouse
Teachers: Sarah McGillion & Martin Baré
15-16 November — Theatre Icons: Four Authors for Improv
In short: creating beautiful, original scenes by learning from how Jane Austen, Anton Chekhov, William Shakespeare, and Tennessee Williams wrote.

10-11 January — Mystery Workshop
In short: trust that we invite really great teachers and we reward you with 25% discount. Only until next Friday!

Dates: Wed, 29 Oct 25 - Wed, 10 Dec 25
(3 Dec no class: showcase from other students free to watch)Times: 20:30 - 22:00
Location: Flock Studio – Treehouse

Update on the revamp

In July, I wrote this LinkedIn post about how we almost quit.
Now, several months later, we’ve just started our ambitious Flock 2.0 plan. To prevent stopping, we’ve brought in a bunch of new performers, staff, and board members — and we’re rehearsing and performing every week.
So, how is that going?
The answer is something like: challenging-amazing-hard-headspinning-promising. 😎
It’s overwhelming when 18 new people bring their 18 calendars. Or when you lose a company member in the first week (thanks to a great opportunity for him). Or when you have a small audience to perform for.
But, we're doing it. Now with more flaming hearts by our side. ❤️🔥
And we’re already seeing the wins, just 1 month in. Our company members are dedicated to growing. Flock has been designated a cultural ANBI. We have received support from two funds. Our courses are selling out. Our shows are getting rave reviews.
And the word is spreading.
So when things feel challenging-amazing-but-mostly-hard, I remind myself of what I said two months ago: go big or go home.
And for now, we're not going home. 😉
Talk soon!
Laura

P.S.
Thanks for reading this newsletter to the end.
If you liked it, let us know. Or forward it to a friend. Or tell someone about improv.
That stuff truly helps! 🙏
