What we have in store 👇 (and an actual quiz)

A fussball table - 100 mocktails - the neighbor's babies 😍

Hey there,

The festival starts in 2 days. 🤯

And we are preparing so much good stuff for you. Like building a fussball table, inviting panel guests, shopping for 100 mocktails, organizing late-night-airport-pickups, and meeting the neighbor's babies.

Below is a small selection of what we have in store. 👇 You will have to come for the full experience. (Would you? I hope so! 😍)

Do the quiz!

Would you like to take a quiz? In honor of the reprise of Polar Nights, Flock’s very own Mash created the quiz ‘Which polar explorer would you be?’

With questions like:

  • How do you prepare for a difficult task?

  • What form of transportation would you pick?

  • And: how do you behave in a crisis?

Take the quiz here. When you know the answer, tell us who you are in the comments! It will delight us.

Get a ticket for Polar Nights Sunday 29 June
(You can also join for the Closing Dinner after, if you book a spot. And if you want, there is a showcase of the mime & object students before and PARCAS in the afternoon)

Little bit of shopping

Did you know that 1 ticket gets you access to 2 main shows, 1 pre-show and 1 late show? Get yourself a show ticket here.

Or grab a 7-day festival pass here. It’s easy. It’s convenient. We treat you extra nice. And you support the festival too!

P.S. Here is our last bed (for just 4 nights, or for all 7)

A spotlight on these shows

A new show

by the International Ensemble

10 international improvisation actors have been selected for the International Ensemble of Flock Festival. Together with highly renowned coach and brilliant theatre maker Chris Mead they will create a show in just 3 days.

Come and witness the very first world première of a brand new show bringing to the stage 10 improvisers from all over the world!

Performers: Shawn Fisher (Austria/US), Carlo Grete (Switzerland), Nora McLeese (The Netherlands/US), Viki Lazar (Switzerland), Ádria Lerma (Spain), Ben Verhoeven (Belgium), Hadass Pelter (The Netherlands), Ronald Harvey (Vietnam/US), Fleur Kläger (Switzerland), Ollie Mason (The Netherlands/UK).

Get a ticket for Thursday 26 June
(Your ticket also includes access to the new Flock production The Green Sign, and if you want: a panel discussion about languages before)

The Play's The Thing

Improvised Shakespeare

Enjoy an adventurous, improvised Shakespearean tale told by three impish seekers.

With daring battles of wit, tear jerking soliloquy’s and very silly serious scenes, Chris, Ali & John will make you laugh, gasp and cry with their innovative mix of form and fun in The Play’s The Thing – the ultimate homage to the Bard.

(Note from me: these British actors have been training for almost a year on actual Shakespeare-like sonnets. I am ready to be blown away by improvised iambic pentameter, and I think you should too.)

Get a ticket for Friday 27 June
(Your ticket also includes an international cast show that was co-created on that day, and if you want: a buffoon showcase before and an open jam after)

An Imam, A Priest, And An Atheist Walk Into A Bar

Every new generation of human beings on this planet believes that we understand the universe better than anyone who came before us.

And we call these beliefs religion, science, magic. But isn’t the wisest generation the one that knows it knows nothing at all? Three improvisers—raised Muslim, Christian, Atheist—set out to clear this up once and for all in the show An Imam, A Priest, and an Atheist Walk Into A Bar.

“Finally, a show which made me cry.

Tanine, Chris, and Gael have all been raised very differently, so what happens when they play together and bring their experiences authentically to their performance is beautiful, vulnerable moments woven between impeccable scenes.

It really moved me.”

Jen Hardy - Artistic Director Liverpool Improvisation Festival

Get a ticket for Saturday 28 June
(Your ticket also includes the site-specific show Treehouse Unscripted, and if you want: a live radio show before and PARCAS after)

The day after tomorrow, the absolute stars of international improvised theatre come to Amsterdam. For one week only.

I hope you will be there to see it! 🩵

Talk soon,
Laura
