Waking up a little nervous 😅 (Workshops in May)
Hey there,
Honestly, I sometimes wake up a little nervous. 😅 What Gael and I decided to do is… Scary.
🦘 First big leap: A brand-new type of show.
Yes improvised, but also: multidisciplinary. From music to dance, from beatboxing to rollerskating.
🦘 Second big leap: A massive, international cast.
We are not talking a bit international. We are talking half of the cast is Columbian superstars.
🦘 Third big leap: A gorgeous theatre with 600 seats to fill.
Six hundred. Over 3 nights. We are going SO big. (So yeah, feel free to book a ticket. It will make you so happy. And make me sleep better, too!)
Below, some top-notch workshops of 1 morning, 1 day or 1 weekend. And the Soundpainting shows itself.
Fail and Be Happy - Félipe Ortiz
Sunday 3 May - morning

Clown techniques in improvisation
In this workshop you will face an essential part of yourself: where you hide your fear, your optimism and the pleasure to fail. Through games, impro and clown exercises, you will find a special way of connection with the audience, the creativity behind the failure, the pleasure of playing and the faculty of living in the present moment: right here, right now.
This workshop is designed for any improviser interested in clowning techniques, or clowns that wish to work with international clown Felipe Ortiz (La Gata Cirko – Bogotá).
Sunday 3 May 10:00-12:30
Flock Studio, T.T. Neveritaweg 57-M1, Amsterdam
Are you curious to see Felipe on stage? Visit a Soundpainting show on Friday 1st of May, Saturday 2nd of May or Sunday 3rd of May!
I’m Also Afraid To Sing - Pilar Carbera
Saturday 2 May - day

Do you sing in the shower but freeze up when others are around?
Do you think singing isn’t for you—even though you’d love to try?
This experience is for you.
It’s not a singing class—it’s a chance to reconnect with your voice, be moved by music, and sing together with no pressure. This workshop-ensemble is designed for anyone who feels curious about singing but has faced fear, shame, or the belief that they don’t have “the right voice”.
No prior experience is needed—just the desire to explore your voice in a safe, collective, and judgment-free environment. With guidance from Pilar Cabrera, participants will come together to learn and perform a song as a group, using singing as a tool for expression, play, and emotional release.
GOALS:
Break through the fear and shame associated with singing
Explore the voice as a channel for authentic expression
Build group trust through the collaborative creation of a song
Enjoy the process of singing through play, body awareness, and active listening
Experience a transformative vocal journey in community
This singing workshop is designed for any improviser interested in singing together, no matter how new or experienced you are, or singers and musicians that wish to work with international song writer Pilar Cabrera.
Saturday 2 May 10:00-16:00
Flock Studio, T.T. Neveritaweg 57-M1, Amsterdam
Are you curious to see Pilar on stage? Visit a Soundpainting show on Friday 1st of May, Saturday 2nd of May or Sunday 3rd of May!
Trust Your Body - Gina Collazos
Saturday 2 May 10:00-16:00

During this workshop I will be sharing tools of improvisation in dance that would help any artist on stage to trust the body.
We usually think of contemporary dance as the only way to approach improvisation in dance, but I’m going to use specially improvisation in jazz to use also music and presence as a tool on stage.
We will be going through different rhythms from Latin America to connect with your intuition.
This dance workshop is designed for any improviser interested in movement and dance, or dancers that wish to work with international dancer Gina Collazos.
Saturday 2 May 10:00-16:00
Beatzone NDSM, Tt. Vasumweg 34B, Amsterdam
Are you curious to see Gina on stage? Visit a Soundpainting show on Friday 1st of May, Saturday 2nd of May or Sunday 3rd of May!
See the show!
Soundpainting 🎼

Soundpainting is coming to Amsterdam for the very first time with cast of approximately 20 international and local artists, including Félipe, Gina and Pilar from Colombia!
A conductor guides actors, musicians, dancers, a beatboxer and a live illustrator in real time through hand signals — composing the entire show on the spot.
This production of Flock Theatre blends theatre, dance, music, circus, singing, rollerblading, and live visual art into something that can’t be easily put in a box. But can very much be felt.
Three shows, three completely different nights:
Echoes of a Tale — Fri 1 May, 19:30
The Big Show — Sat 2 May, 19:30
Sunday Stories (family matinée, ages 8+) — Sun 3 May, 17:00
We can’t wait to see you there!
Intimate Storytelling - 1 spot left
Workshop weekend with David Moncada

This 2-day workshop explores the power of personal narrative and emotional honesty in improvisation. Through this exploration, you will learn to access vulnerability, presence, and authenticity on stage.
The focus is on telling small stories with big impact: stories rooted in lived experience, memory, and human connection.
Designed for improvisers who want to deepen their relationship to vulnerability, presence, and personal storytelling.
(It is no secret that we think David is an incredibly inspiring improviser, whose work(shops) we LOVE. But this topic sounds especially fitting for these times. And David brings such a refreshing style of teaching. Highly recommend!)
Dates: Sat, 09 May 26 - Sun, 10 May 26 11:30 - 17:30
Location: Flock Studio – Treehouse, T.T. Neveritaweg 57-M1, Amsterdam
We go big, because we believe in it so hard. I loved every Soundpainting show I saw. It’s like a dream.
I wish that for you too.
😉
