Flint alpha updates, October 18th
Hello from Japan!

I've managed a very productive week on the Flint alpha 💪
The big theme this week is agent improvements. The agent is now much faster and capable and you should have a better sense of what its doing.
Agent Improvements
I've switched the default model to the recently released Claude Haiku 4.5, which is just so fast and capable. You can also toggle "plus ultra" mode (Sonnet 4.5) for the times that require a bit more reasoning (downside: it's slower and eats through credits) but in my testing Haiku 4.5 is so good that you should really just use it for everything.
I've added a task system for the agent. This should help it stay on task when making complex changes across your vault.
The activity tracker widget is much better now. It groups multiple tool calls and has a fun animation when a tool is running. This should give you better insight into what the agent is doing. I also added copy-to-clipboard buttons to make creating bug reports easier.
I’ve added OpenRouter credit info so you can more easily track spending:

Along with a token context tracker for the current thread so you know when the conversation is getting close to the context limit:

A ton of bugs with tools themselves have been fixed so the agent should be much more reliable now. If you notice the agent still struggling with completing tasks do let me know.
General Polish
There has also been a general round of polishing across the system. Highlights include:
The note type switcher is now in the main editor rather than burying it in the metadata
You can now shift+click on a wikilink to add it to the sidebar
The wikilink popover should go away more reliably when you mouse away
When the cursor is next to a wikilink
cmd+enternow opens the note rather than simplyenterYou can click on
pathin a note's metadata to open the file in the file explorerResizable sidebars!
Next up
Next week will probably see the pace of updates slow down a bit. Got a bunch of sightseeing to do so a bit less time for hacking.
In the meantime, if you notice anything broken, please let me know!
