Signs (Announcements for Nov 7)
Hi everyone,
This week, our Bible reading plan (Adults' Version, Kids' Version) switches two one OT chapter per day and two NT chapters per day. In the Old Testament, we are reading about the plagues God sent on Egypt. These plagues were acts of salvation to free his people from slavery, but they were also signs to display his power as the true and living God and to humiliate the false gods of Egypt.
In the New Testament, we are reading the first part of John's Gospel, which is often called "the book of signs" because it is filled with signs Jesus performed. These signs were for the immediate benefit of his people, but they also served to prove his claim that he is the only-begotten Son of God, and to illustrate his message of salvation through his death and resurrection.
Kids, this week you'll be reading about a conversation Jesus had with a woman at a well. Have you ever been thirsty, but couldn't find anything to drink? This woman was thirsty, so she came to the well for water. Jesus helped her see that she was also thirsty for God's grace, and that she should come to him.
Sincerely,
Pastor Goligher

November Fellowship Lunch
It has been some time since we held our usual monthly fellowship lunch! We are looking forward to our next one on Sunday November 14, after the morning service.
A few reminders: First, please plan to bring a main dish plus either a salad or a dessert. The idea is for each of us to bring enough food for ourselves to eat, with some extra to share with visitors.
Second, we will need some volunteers to help with setup and cleanup. We used to have a regular schedule for this, but we have not yet put that back together. If you are able to help this time, please speak with Jim or Julie Lemen.
Pastoral Internship Next Year
We enjoyed having Jonathan Bartlett here as our pastoral intern this past summer. So we are glad that he has agreed to another internship, this time for a year. Lord willing, he and his wife Maddie will arrive in June, shortly after Jonathan finishes his studies at Greenville Seminary.
Please continue to pray for Jonathan and Maddie through this last year of seminary. Our next opportunity to spend some time with them will be on the weekend of December 19, when we plan to have Jonathan filling our pulpit.
