Living the life of the “already” but “not yet” (Announcements for 3 July)
Hi Everyone,
On Wednesday we considered Romans 7 where the Apostle Paul expresses the profound conflict that every Christian finds inherent in his life in Christ, namely, sin dwells in us, but we are thankful that Christ also dwells in us. “Thanks be to God through Christ our Lord!”
Jeff and Lydia Bergman will soon move to Dayton, OH, so you will want to say “goodbye” to them this Sunday or next.
Sincerely,
Elder Lemen
The Lord’s Day
Sunday school is at 9:45 am. In adult Sunday school class we are looking at the history of the Presbyterian church in America.
There will be no children’s Sunday school this Sunday (the children are welcome to join the adult class). We will start our Summer quarter the following week and it will be a single class geared more towards the older students. All are welcome.
The morning service is at 11:00 am. The sermon will be "The Lord of Glory” from James 2:1-13.
The evening service is at 5:00 pm. The sermon will be "The True Shepherd" from Micah 2:1-13.
Through the Week
Park Day is on Wednesday at 10 am at Fairwood Park in Sunnyvale. Speak to Betsie Porter if you have questions.
Prayer Meeting is on Wednesday evening at 7:15pm, at church and on Zoom.
Men's Bible Study is on recess for a couple of weeks.
Ladies’ Summer Reading Plan: This week is Chapters 5 & 6 of “Faith. Hope. Love.” by Mark Jones.
VBS Registration
If your kids are planning to attend VBS 8-12 August, please sign them up. This will help us plan the materials and volunteers. We already have about 50 registrations, so spaces are filling up! Please pray for God's blessing on this ministry, that children would be converted to Christ and nurtured in the faith. And we are looking for a few more volunteers – please speak to Julie Lemen if you can help.
Lord’s Supper
We are next scheduled to celebrate the Lord’s Supper on the Sunday of 24 July, when we will also receive an offering for the work of the Deacons.
CityTeam Volunteer Opportunity
The church has an upcoming volunteer opportunity with CityTeam on July 9, 1:30-3:30 pm to provide Warehouse Support (tasks like donation sorting, food packaging, or assembling hygiene kits) at 1297 North 13th Street, San Jose, CA 95112. Volunteers need to be 8+. For more details, follow the link below and find the event on July 9th. From there you can read more about the opportunity and sign up (as of Friday there are still three slots open):
VolunteerHub: secure, easy-to-use, volunteer management software, fundraising, True CRM Integration (Blackbaud, Salesforce), waiver tracking & more
Please let Scott Porter know if you plan to attend so you can be contacted directly if there is any change of plans.
