Interview with Jim Ohannesian

On the first weekend of May 1975, Jim Ohannesian packed a moving truck and left Pasadena for Sunnyvale. He had accepted a new job in Palo Alto, which would enable him to live closer to family in Sunnyvale. He had visited First OPC Sunnyvale several times over the years, and already had it in mind as his new church home.

Jim planned his move so that he could drive up on Saturday and attend worship on Sunday. He made it, barely! His truck broke down on the highway, and he rolled into Sunnyvale only an hour or two before the start of morning worship. He has been part of our church ever since, and he has served as an elder since the mid-1990s. His wife Alice is also a much-loved part of our congregation.

On September 17th of this year, we will mark the seventieth anniversary of First OPC Sunnyvale. With that milestone approaching, we have an opportunity to reflect on our history with thanks to God and an eye to the future.

With that in mind, I recently recorded a brief interview with Jim Ohannesian. His memories and insights offer a glimpse of God’s faithfulness to Jim and to our church.
