A New Way to Keep in Touch, and three invitations
Hi Everyone,
This email newsletter has been serving two purposes: 1) to share weekly news and announcements, and 2) to keep in touch with friends and former members of our congregation.
This week, we began using Church Social to share weekly news and announcements. If you are a member or guest at our Sunday Services, you have probably received an announcement email already. If you did not, please let me know that you would like to receive those announcements (you can just reply to this email).
If you are a friend or former member of the congregation, we hope you'll stay subscribed so that we can keep in touch. We plan to use this newsletter for occasional announcements, invitations, and updates that we hope will be relevant and encouraging for you.
This week, there are three invitations that we want you to know about, so that you can pray with us for God's blessing, and plan to join.
Fall Bible Conference
On Saturday and Sunday, September 9-10, Dr. Craig Carter will be speaking "Isaiah's Message for the Modern World." Here's the whole list of events:
- Pre-conference educators' lecture (Friday, September 8)
- Three messages on Saturday September 9: "Five Portraits of God," "Who is the Servant of the Lord?", and "Isaiah at the Center of Scripture".
- Adult Sunday School (9:45am) on Christians' relationship to society and government (drawing on some of Dr. Carter's experience in Ontario)
- Morning and evening messages: "Salvation through Judgement" and "The Divine Messiah"
Please register if you're planning to come on Friday or Saturday, so we can know how many to expect. No registration needed to attend on Sunday.
Women's Retreat
Second, our Presbytery's annual Women's Retreat is scheduled for Saturday, October 14, in Pleasanton. The speaker is Rev. John Wise, pastor of Grace OPC in Battle Mountain. The theme is "Becoming Whole: How Christ Puts Sinners Back Together." Registration is open at this webpage. There is a special rate for teenagers this year.
Ordination and Installation
We anticipate a service of ordination and installation for Mr. Nathaniel Vroom on Friday, November 3. Last week Nathaniel completed his final exams with the Credentials Committee of our presbytery. His final "trial" will be a rigorous oral theology examination on the floor of presbytery when it meets three weeks from now. Please pray for Nathaniel's preparations.
Thank you for your friendship and partnership in Christ's service.
Sincerely,
Pastor Goligher
