Electrum Firo 4.1.5.7 released

A new release of Electrum Firo is out. This update fixes the Ledger Nano S+ connection issue introduced in app version 2.4.10, adds support for the newer Ledger Flex and Stax hardware wallets, and brings in new ElectrumX community servers contributed by Stack Wallet and Mathnodes.

If you use a Ledger device with Electrum Firo, this update is recommended.

Spark Address support lands on BasicSwapDEX

BasicSwapDEX has shipped Spark address support in their latest release. You can now view your Spark balance, generate a Spark address, and withdraw directly to another Spark address - all without leaving the DEX. A solid step forward for privacy-preserving, non-custodial trading.

Firo masternode count surges - over 1,500 new masternodes online

Since early May 2026, around 1,500 new masternodes have come online, locking an additional 1.5 million FIRO to help secure the network. As of this post, there are 6,570 enabled masternodes out of 7,307 total.

Masternodes play a critical role in Firo's hybrid mining/masternode consensus model - their combined stake makes a 51% attack on the network near impossible. They also power InstantSend (instant transaction confirmation) and work in tandem with ChainLocks technology, which finalizes blocks with a single confirmation.

Firo's Future: Private Digital Money in a Post-Quantum World

A strategic piece has been posted on the Firo forums outlining Firo's direction. Staying focused on private digital money, accelerating post-quantum readiness in light of recent developments in quantum computing, and completing key milestones (Spark Assets, Helsing, PQ mitigations) before tail emission in September 2028.
