it's news for you, from FERAL ROYAL
Hi all! The dreaded moving day is over, but the world keeps on turning! Keeping it brief again this month.
Here's a rundown of what's been going on with us:
- The Vow's Kickstarter pre-launch page is up! Here you can sign up to get a notification when the crowdfund begins. (July 7th, btw!!) If you're getting this newsletter, you'll receive an email about the KS launch anyway, but it's an exciting step nonetheless.
- Additionally, The Vow preview is also now on itch.io (even if you've already read, downloads and ratings help a ton with visibility!)
- You may have noticed this elsewhere, but I am very happy to announce: the writer formerly known as Eden Sykes has decided to set aside their pen name! The reception of our comic at MCAF in no small part helped them realize that they don't want to hide themself or their passion, and I'm happy to reintroduce my partner and powerhouse of a writer Arden Ripley. ♥ (For those of you who have promo material with Sykes's name on them, those are limited edition collectibles now.)
- On a related note, MCAF was a dream come true. Thank you again to everyone who stopped by, showed us your sketchbooks, and told us we were making the art you wanted to see in the world. I couldn't ask for a better first convention, and I look forward to coming back to Montreal as soon as I can TT_TT
- Arden and my's website is up as well! We each have our own personal portfolio sites, but we wanted a hub for Our Work Together in particular. It's simple for now, but it'll grow over time ― I'm a novice HTML gardener but I have some ambitions for what we'll do with this spot in the coming years. >:)
I did promise saucy art as a thank you for subscribing in last month's newsletter, but May ended up being no joke the busiest month of my life to date. I wanted so badly to have the drawings done for this update + I almost delayed the newsletter further for it but...hopefully you will forgive me if I just do them next month. Kickstarter launch announcement and bonus smut of the protagonists imminent.
Anyway, thanks as always for reading! I'm looking forward to next month even if it is scary to be staring down the barrel of running my first crowdfund. Let's do our best o9
Listening: Chicago (2002) soundtrack. I watched this last night and to say it knocked me on my ass is an understatement. I kind of genuinely cannot believe/process how good it is, especially as a musical adaptation. Every lead is giving a performance that would have stolen the show if it were any other movie? I was listening to Cell Block Tango for like 20 years and no one EVER told me about We Both Reached For The Gun?????
Watching: Not a ton this month worth writing about. Outside of Chicago + rewatching Paths of Glory, I've been really enjoying Dungeon Meshi (along with probably 60% of the entire earth's population lmao)
Misc: Successfully built a new bedframe today but have sustained the dumbest injury: huge circular bruise in the center of my palm from bearing down on the screwdriver too hard
