#feministfriday episode 504 | Make the whole place glimmer
Good afternoon everyone,
How are you doing on this sunny Friday? Well, I hope. I hope you are going to get to spend some time outdoors today, but before that here's a Fem Fri of sitting in a dark room watching a movie.
That movie is Yr Fat Friend, a documentary about the excellent fat activist Aubrey Gordon. I didn't know I was going to like the movie as much as I did (wasn't totally sure I'd enjoy a movie about a podcaster tbh), but it's really moving and lovely and you can watch it here wherever you are in the world:
Your Fat Friend | Jolt
Acclaimed director, Jeanie Finlay charts the rise of writer and activist Aubrey Gordon with humor and candor. Shot over six years, we see Aubrey go from anonymous blogger to NYTimes best selling author and podcaster with an audience of millions. Aub
Here's an interview with the director, Jeanie Finlay, where she sums up very sucinctly what makes watching this film a lovely experience:
My production company’s called Glimmer Films because that is what I’m looking for: the glimmer of the tiny moment. It’s a result of the camera as a catalyst and my questions. It is me holding a camera in that moment and the years of work that’s gone into getting in the room.

Finally, here's a song that gets a little bit of airtime in the film, but I think you deserve the whole thing - here's Try The Worryin' Way by the Fabulettes:
