#feministfriday episode 483 | Fem Fri Albums of the Year 2023
Good evening everyone,
Are you knackered? I'm so knackered. Well, the good news for all of us is that it is Friday night and I have some lovely album recommendations for you that you can enjoy tonight. Maybe you're going out so you can't listen at home but any one of these would be lovely on your headphones as well.
Caroline Polachek - Desire, I Want To Turn Into You
I love this album so much. It's incredible to start a working day with that joyful and sustained shriek at the start of the first track (which is below), and that's how I've started at least one day a week since this album came out. This song is about being Circe and IT IS SO GOOD.
Avalon Emerson - & The Charm
The clue to this album is in the title, it really is all charm. Especially on this track, which is just a conversation at a party, but with a really lovely tune. As a fan of both Avalon Emerson and small talk, I was always going to be sold:
Amaarae - Fountain Baby
Look, of course albums full of sexy jamz are great, but have you ever thought in the middle of the LP "I just want this to break out into yelling like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs"? I have just exactly the album for you, it's Amaarae's Fountain Baby, here's Angels in Tibet:

Taylor Swift - Midnights
Sure, you've listened to Taylor Swift if you want to listen to Taylor Swift, but have you listened to Mastermind recently? Have you listened to it today? Go ahead and give yourself a treat:
Jim Legxacy - homeless fella pop music
Here are some of the things I love the most: emo. afropop. hip hop. South East London. I JUST DESCRIBED JIM LEGXACY, here's Block Hug:
Love,
Alex.
