💪 Keep Up the Good Work!

Here's the Kairos news for the week!

Hello friends! Praying for you in whatever you're going through!

We are now mid-August! This hot and humid weather is really killing me. Especially between the hours of 4pm-9pm! IYKYK!

We have five items this week! (325 words; ~1.5 minute read time)

1. ✨ SPARK BUILDERS STARTS THIS FRIDAY

This Friday at 7:30pm, our children's fellowship will resume! All first through sixth grade students are welcome to participate in the weekly activities!

👉 PARENTS sign up here!

📝 Go here if you can volunteer to help!

2. ❤️ FELLOWSHIP RESTART!

I've missed connecting together through our fellowship gatherings! While the summer has been a good break from the regular routine, I'm looking forward to being together with fellow brothers and sisters! We will be restarting our groups in September, so stay tuned for group details and scheduling!

3. 🎸 PHIL WICKHAM/BRANDON LAKE CONCERT

Tickets are still available for the concert on August 22! Concert will be held at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood. Cost is $63.13 each.

✏️ Sign up here if you'd like to go!

4. ⭐️ BOOK OF THE WEEK

book

I recently finished the book Celebrities for Jesus: How Personas, Platforms, and Profits Are Hurting the Church. Written by Katelyn Beaty, the book recounts some of the recent major moral failures within the evangelical church and how they are indicative of the value system of the American church. I love the main theme of the book where celebrity is defined as social power without proximity.

🤔 Application-wise, this makes a case for an effective church to be smaller rather than megachurch size. Can a pastor really be able to shepherd if their influence is only from a platform?

5. 📺 SHOW RECOMMENDATIONS

As I'm training for the Long Beach Half marathon, I usually take one day each week to cross train on an indoor bike. I like the bike because it allows me to watch a movie or show without all the bouncing around I'd do if I did the treadmill. Let me know if you have any suggested TV shows for me while I'm riding!

Have a great rest of the week!
