🐍 Happy New Year!
Hope you all get a chance to celebrate with friends and family!
Our extended family will be going to a Chinese restaurant tonight to celebrate. I think this is the first time we've done this in at least 10 years! (We usually hit a steakhouse or an American restaurant... on Lunar New Year!😂)
We have five items this week! (403 words; ~2 minute read time)
ONE REFLECTION FROM THE WEEKEND
I hope you were inspired from this past weekend's gathering with Pastor Ken. The invitation to go deeper and draw closer to God through the spiritual practices felt like a balm to my soul. God is near and is wanting to bring life to me and to those around me.
- 💧 I loved the metaphor of our being filled with God's love and spilling that out to others. Video link
- 🙊 As a follow up to the conference, we will be holding a one day silent retreat on April 12. The plan is to spend the Saturday at the Mater Dolorosa Retreat Center in Sierra Madre to engage in the spiritual practices collectively.
Let's take the first step in creating a rule of life for our spiritual growth and development!
2. 🅰 ALPHA SESSION ON BEING FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT
Don't miss out on the next Alpha session as we discuss being filled with the Holy Spirit! This will be a great opportunity to receive prayer and experience God firsthand.
- Date: Saturday, February 1
- Time: 10am-12pm
- Location: Jane and Henry's home in La Palma
- Food included!
3. 😴 FELLOWSHIP THIS WEEK
All fellowship groups are on break this week!
4. 📝 FECC TAX PREPARATION SERVICE
As mentioned last week, we will be preparing taxes for community members starting next month. Would love to have some of you join in on the service to help those in need!
- Dates: February 15 and March 1
- Helpers needed: Tax preparers, hosts, snacks, check-in/check-out assistance.
- Please let me know if you would like to assist!
5. 🤓 RECENT BOOKS
I've been powering through a few books recently. In addition to reading God in My Everything as part of our Sunday school, I've recently completed Bad Therapy: Why the Kids Aren't Growing Up. The book can be a little alarmist at times but there are helpful critiques on the recent emphasis of trauma informed therapy for children as well as the gentle parenting style of parenting. All's I can say is that it's tough being a parent and challenging to sort through all the info! Thankful for God's grace in this area!
🙄 I've also been reading the Jack Reacher series the past couple weeks. Haha! I guess it's better than doomscrolling!
See you on Sunday!
