🤿 VBS Week!

Hi everyone! Welcome to another fantastic episode! :) Apologies for missing last week's newsletter. Hopefully you didn't miss out on too much info!

🐠 This week's VBS with the underwater theme of Scuba has been going swimmingly! I'm loving the transformation of the hallway under the sanctuary into an underwater scene. It's pretty cool!

We have five items this week! (322 words; ~1.5 minute read time)

1. 🎡 CHURCH CARNIVAL ON FRIDAY

We have our church carnival taking place from 7-9pm in the church parking lot. Come join this festive time of fellowship and celebration of the VBS activities!

If you can volunteer to help with taking tickets for the inflatables stations or the train station, it would be greatly appreciated!

2. 🛁 BAPTISMAL SERVICE THIS SUNDAY

Our brother Matthew Fok will be baptized this coming Sunday! Service will be at 11:30am in the DTC Chapel and the baptism will take place immediately following service in the main Sanctuary.

3. 👏 WELCOME PASTOR LEI CHEN!

If you happen to see an unknown pastor floating around on Sunday, you probably saw our new Mandarin Assistant Pastor! Pastor Lei and his family joined our church family this month. His daughter Joy who will be a college freshman has been part of our Kairos congregation these past few weeks. Please make sure to welcome them when you see them!

4. 👨🏻‍🍳 BOOK OF THE WEEK

After finishing The Anxious Generation, I was able to borrow Unreasonable Hospitality by Will Guidara. Fascinating book about the author's approach to running a restaurant and earning 3 Michelin stars. I found some good application for church ministry as well!

5. 🦬 LOOKING FOR BISON
IMG_9419.jpeg

Coming back from our family road trip, I've been slowly weaning myself away from all the ribeyes and steaks we ate! One unique thing we enjoyed eating was bison steak! We had a bison ribeye in Jackson, WY and it was sublime. Pictured above is my bison sirloin from The Wassweiler in Helena, MT. Another delightful dish.

Bison is supposedly healthier than beef, so if you know of any suppliers, please let me know! Been thinking about making loco moco with ground bison! 😋

See you this weekend!
