Hello Explorers!

Our next event is for the little ones and their guardians. When prepping for Stuffed Animal Taxidermy, Captain Lark figured that there might be a way for this to be modified for young ones. After play testing and finding some fun solutions, we are excited to try out our first ever Kid at Heart Taxidermy workshop. This one will prioritize kiddos, but if we still have some room leading up to the event we’ll open it up for a couple older explorers too.

We’re still deciding between two locations, but expect this one to be in San Francisco.

Kid at Heart Taxidermy Workshop - Sunday, March 22nd

Rumors have begun circulating through the Explorers Guild of a most unusual species of Asteri. Unlike the creatures that dwell in forests, deserts, or distant oceans, these beings are rumored to arise from the soft tubular fauna commonly found in dresser drawers. With a bit of imagination, a handful of curious materials, and the steady hands of determined Explorers, these soft forms awaken into strange and wonderful life. On this expedition, the Guild invites its younger Explorers and the young at heart to gather and take part in the noble work of discovery, transforming ordinary socks into extraordinary members of the growing Asteri Bestiary.

This special Kid at Heart Taxidermy workshop, designed with Explorers under 12 in mind, will take place in San Francisco on the afternoon of March 22nd. Participants will use socks as their base form and attach various creative elements to bring their creatures to life before presenting them. Accoutrements will be provided, though participants are asked to bring a sock and their creativity with them. Whether your creature is shy, mischievous, or entirely unprecedented in the natural world, the Guild looks forward to welcoming the next generation of Asteri discoverers.

Space is limited and we max out at 10 young crafters. Each youth will also need to be accompanied by an adult guardian. Register here if you’re interested.

If you are an older explorer and would like to join, we’ll open up registration a few days after we give families priority.

We have more to follow in Spring too! SFO Museum tour, plant forager badge, and a journey into the microscopic world are all getting set for the next couple of months. Of course we’re also still working towards our adventure to France too.
