Welcome November! ~ ExGld
Hello Explorers!
Tonight is the deadline to nominate yourself (or someone else) to the board of directors. Tomorrow members will be sent a voting form and voting will continue from November 4-14th. Which reminds me, tomorrow is also Election Day in the USA. Go vote and wear your sticker proudly!
Rosicrucian Museum - Saturday, November 8th

This Saturday, November 8th, is our exploration of the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum. I’m loving the way the field guide is shaping up and think it’ll be a great experience for all that join. We’re asking for interested explorers to let us know (either by email or in Slack #1108-rosicrucian-museum) so that we can send you your rendezvous point on Friday evening.
logistics snapshot:
Where: At a rendezvous point near the Rosicrucian Museum (San Jose, CA)
When: Saturday, November 8th - 12:30pm - 3pm
Cost: Admission is $15 for adults (though there’s a number of discounts if you’re a senior/student/child)
Carpooling: If you’re looking or are able to drive people, the Slack channel (#1108-rosicrucian-museum) will be the best place to coordinate.
Driveway Follies - Captain’s Report
We had a wonderful turnout of Explorers at Driveway Follies this year. In the days leading up to the event, I felt a hint of uncertainty, as several enthusiastic Explorers expressed concern that our timing might cause us to miss the show. In years past, I have learned that arriving around 9 p.m. usually grants us entry to the final, more adult-oriented performance of the evening. Still, with free public theater, one can never be certain if the schedule or rhythm of the night has changed. Even so, it seemed best to stay the course.

Heading up Greenwood Avenue, I was amazed by the sheer number of people gathered this year. The sounds of laughter and applause filled the night air as I began spotting Explorers scattered among the crowd. In total, thirty field guides were distributed, and many of us stood near the back, watching the performance through a sea of heads and shoulders. A few of us, curious as ever, wandered up to the house to admire the displays. The same magic that fills the stage lives there as well, and their animatronics were nothing short of phenomenal.

Before long, we found seats and settled in for the show. I was delighted to see the Witches Hat return after many years, and my personal favorite, The Skeleton and the Roundabout, once again took the stage. Coming so soon after the Steeplechase, the evening felt like a perfect continuation of our season’s spirit.
As the final act concluded, it truly felt as though Halloween had arrived in the Bay Area. We left smiling, grateful to the artists and stage magicians who continue to conjure this spectacle year after year.
