Social Dancer Badge, tomorrow! ~ ExGld
I hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween, and thanks to the 20ish Explorers who came out to Driveway Follies on Wednesday. It’s always so lovely to share that with explorers and I look forward to sharing it again in the future.
This is also your final reminder for tomorrow night’s Social Dancer Badge. If you’re new to social dancing, please take my assurance that this dance event is super friendly for beginners. The normal crowd is welcoming, the moves taught and reinforced for each dance, plus you’ll have other Explorers with you! So do plan on joining us tomorrow!
Social Dancer Badge - Nov. 2nd - 5:30pm
Tomorrow (Saturday Nov. 2nd), the Explorer’s Guild will venture into an Oakland dance hall and earn our Social Dancer Badge at this month’s Circle Left Contra Dance. Contra Dance is a gender neutral, beginner friendly folk dance. Rooted in the traditions of English Country Dancing (think Jane Austen) and Square Dancing, but lovingly curated for the modern dancer. The footwork is primarily walking, and every dance is taught with a walkthrough before we dance it.

We will meet by the Snow Park picnic tables at 5:30pm to cross the line in the sand and prepare ourselves mentally. Then proceed to the dance hall, where we’ll join the larger dance community for an introductory lesson. At the break (around 8:30) we’ll semper explorandum and acknowledge those that earned their badges.
Do bring:
Comfortable shoes (ideally smooth bottomed (think bowling shoes), but any shoe that is comfortable to walk in will work)
Water Bottle
$20 for dance hall admission (Circle Left accepts a sliding scale if you need it)
Light comfortable clothing
If you’re planning on joining, consider joining the Slack channel #1102-social-dancer. You can even meet Doe, who will be calling the event!

That’s all for now, looking forward to seeing many of you tomorrow night!
Semper Explorandum Explorers!
