The last time I spoke of summer weather arriving to the Bay Area, we got a surprise rain storm which postponed Steeplechase… so I won’t mention it again. I will say that I’m really looking forward to our up and down city walkabout this Saturday. Based on current predictions, I’m looking forward to breaking out one of my favorite jaunty (and brimmed) hats. Below is your reminder that our next event is this Saturday, June 15th!
While I have your attention, this weekend is also the next Raining Chainsaws event: Underground. This show will sell out and tickets are not available at the door, so get yours now.
High Sights - June 15th
Have you ever felt the urge to climb to the top of a hill? Was it to see the view? To make a discovery? To answer a question? Here at the Explorer’s Guild we find the tippy tops of places entrancing, but we haven’t quite put our finger on why. It seems the best way to find an answer is to ascend ourselves. Here’s a chance to explore many great views and advance explorer research all without leaving city limits.
This will be a long exploration, about 13 miles, with a lot of up and down. It’s not quite a loop, but we will begin and end close to public transportation. Expect interesting city facts, hidden paths and staircases, exhilarating climbs to amazing views (fog allowing), reflection upon questions that rise to great heights, and the joy of wandering across our beautiful city in the company of whimsical friends.

We’ll meet in front of the Ferry Building at 9am on Saturday, June 15 and end at Dolores Park sometime between 3 and 4 pm. We’ve also started the Slack channel 0615-high-sights for those of daring to join us!
We’re also nearing our next events for the summer: Pebble Exploration on July 21st and our River Rafting Campout on August 16-18th. Both should be amazing and I look forward to sharing more details on these next week.
