Opportunities for April Fun ~ ExGld

Hello Explorers!

If you’re looking for an opportunity to engage with the Explorers Guild, there’s a few on the horizon. An absolute gem of an experience is happening with the Aftel Archive. If you’ve never been to their museum of scent, I highly recommend it, details and registration on that are below.

We also have lots of ways to engage with Adventure Camp. Since the event registration has closed, this is the best way to participate. We have another play test and some workshop days. We’re also specifically looking for someone who can help with a 3D model design (if this might be you, reply to this dispatch so we can connect).

Aftel Archive ~ April 26th

As we shared last week, we have a visit to the Aftel Archive coming next week. This one of a kind experience is super cool, though space is limited. We have a block of tickets on hold, so if you want to join sign up ASAP.

Details

Meet at Live Oak Park at 1:30pm. As the museum only allows 10 people in at a time, we’ll split into two groups with one visiting the Archive while the other plays a few games and engages in a “Smell and Tell”. Then we’ll switch, and finally come together to compare notes, wrapping around 4:30.

Due to the museums space limitations, this event is limited to 20 explorers. If you'd like one of these tickets, please fill out this form. Ticket cost for this event is $25 for members and $35 for non-members (comes with an Explorer’s Guild membership for 2025). If the cost is a barrier to you joining, please let me know when you register. The guild may be able to support a few discounted entrances.

Explorers will need comfortable walking shoes, a few packed snacks, a jaunty hat, an optional smell to share, and of course a curious nose.

Play Testing and Workshop Days, oh my!

Play testing

We’re in the throes of production right now, and it’s simultaneously one of the most difficult events we’ve ever planned, but also one of the most rewarding. At this point we’re out of the nebulous zone of near infinite possibilities, and instead we’re seeing our imaginations come to life. This is the exciting times, and this is our invitation for you to join us.

We have some clear needs (e.g. we’re looking for a a 3D modeler) and we have some dates for the uninitiated to help us with workshop or play test days.

This weekend, the workshop days in Oakland are:

  • Saturday (April 19th) 11:30am - 7:30pm

  • Sunday (April 20th) 11am - 5pm

We also have a play test on Sunday, April 20th 2pm - 4:30pm at Precita Park. If you’re able to come to this, let us know via this link.

If you can help with these, please pop onto our slack and DM me (Dr. Professor) so that I can put you into the relevant channels with information on where the workshop is. If you think you can help us with 3D modeling, you can also reply to this message and we can go from there.

Thank you all and Semper Explorandum Explorers!
