Fairyland Sept 14 ~ ExGld
Greetings Explorers!
This dispatch is coming fresh off the success of our River Rafting Campout. Over the weekend Explorers got to test their mettle on the South Fork of the American River, and the experience was incredible. We’ll have a full Captain’s Report in the next few days, but we also wanted to get some of you prepped for our next adventure…
Fairyland - Sept 14
A timeless local treasure is tucked along the shores of Lake Merritt. Its candy-colored sign has been beckoning families for generations, inviting all kids and their grownups to frolic, imagine, wander, and, yes, explore in a land where fairy tales have come to life. Now that the Explorers Guild has several established families, we are going to the one, the only, Children’s Fairyland! Our goals are to get lost in the wonder of this delightful pint-sized amusement park, and to marvel at the natural exploratory instincts of our littlest Guild members.
We’ll meet at the entrance to Children’s Fairlyland on Saturday, September 14 at 1pm.
In order to explore this special place to the fullest you will need: a jaunty hat, sunscreen, a water bottle, a child, and whatever pile of necessities are required to keep your child alive and comfortable for the afternoon.

Because Fairyland requires that all adults enter with a child, and because of the sensitive nature of bringing adults into a child-oriented space, attendance for this event will be limited to Explorers with children and their guests. If you are an Explorer with children and you would like to attend, please join the #0914-fairyland Slack channel. Optionally, you can invite up to two fellow Explorers to join you even if they do not have children, as long as you are willing to coordinate exploring the park with them and you feel confident & comfortable engaging with them among children. If you have questions please reach out to @belle_cunningham on the Explorers Guild Slack. If you would like more information about Fairyland, or you would like to purchase your tickets in advance, check out their website here.
Odd Salon: Coterie - August 20
For all you adults that want to go to fairyland but might not be able to, fear not! There are plenty of things to do. One of our Explorers is hosting Odd Salon: Coterie. If you’ve never been to an Odd Salon you are truly missing out, but this special pop up is all about secret societies, obscure organizations, and stories of camaraderie and fellowship (amazing!!). As an extra special bonus, it’s happening in the Half Moon Bay Odd Fellows building! If you are able to, I highly suggest making your way out there.

Alright, that’s all for now. If you have little ones, mark your calendars for September 14th. If you mind is curious, be sure to make plans for Odd Salon tomorrow. For everyone else, the Captain’s Report for the rafting trip is coming soon.
Semper Explorandum Explorers!
