Come Celebrate on Sunday! ~ ExGld
Ho! Explorers!!
Over the last few weeks (and in preparation for this Sunday’s 10 year celebration) I’ve had the pleasure of checking in with old friends, going through photos, and reflecting on this long term project we call the Explorers Guild. I’m completely floored by all the experiences we’ve had together, and I’m also humbled to know that there’s so much more that y’all still want to go do together.
Now this is my personal invite to all of you reading this: I want to see you this Sunday! It won’t just be a time of reflection but a time of celebration and looking forward. Come join us this Sunday, whether you’ve been to dozens of Explorers Guild activities, or you have yet to attend your first. The day is looking to be an excellent time for Explorers of all backgrounds.

As a reminder:
What: Explorers Guild Anniversary Celebration
When: Sunday, July 27th - 12pm to 7pm
Where: 12-3pm Balboa Park, 3-7pm Ocean Room
Who: All Explorers are welcome!

What to Expect:
12-3pm is the outdoor picnic and activity time (Balboa Park). Come play games, break bread, and meet fellow explorers! You’re welcome to bring a snack to share but don’t fret too much about this detail, we just want to see you!
3-7pm we’ll move inside (Ocean Room). We’ll have treasures from the Explorers Guild archives, photos, music and some snacks.
As we want to hear from you, we’re also giving away some prizes for those that share stories or answer our written questions. Drawings will happen each hour, so pop in an out as it fits with your schedule.

How to get there:
All of these locations are near Balboa BART Station, and we highly suggest riding the train if you’re coming out. There is of course street parking, but who can resist the lure of a train ride?!?

Last couple of notes…
Don’t forget we also have Transit Nerd’s Day Out coming up on Saturday, August 9th (1pm - approx 4pm). If you love trains and have an appreciation for mass transit, you’ll love this one.
Also, not directly Explorers Guild related, but something that is near to many of our hearts. The Museum of Jurassic Technology experienced a fire two weeks ago. This museum is one of my absolute favorite places in the world and I know it means a lot to those in our community as well. An Explorer (whose name also comes direct from this location) gifted me the book Mr. Wilson’s Cabinet of Wonder many years ago, and it still has a treasured place on my bookshelf. The author of that book wrote a piece about the fire, and in it wrote about their need for donations to help get it back up and running. If you have the means, I highly recommend it. If you haven’t been yet, your donation would mean that much more as you’ll still need to at some point and it would be a good way to ensure it stays until you can visit.
Ok, that’s all for now! I hope to see you on Sunday and…
Semper Explorandum Explorers!!
