everything else: the scream is coming from inside the house
dear internet,
this week,
i'm thinking about: ways to balance talking about what we're doing in this time, without making it look like we're all hyper-productive, dalgona-coffee-making, workout-acing, best-self versions of ourselves. (see also: jia tolentino's 'always be optimizing' essay from trick mirror, a version of which exists here and a radio version here.)
i watched: friends, still; the delightful emma. (2020), which made me want to rewatch the enormously enjoyable love & friendship. who wrote a delightfully mean woman better than austen? also scream (1996), which manages to be clever and hilarious and somehow not dated despite the entirety of its plot hinging on landlines and brick-sized 'cellular telephones'.
i listened to: the warner catalogue has dropped on spotify india, so of course rumours, with bonus demo/acoustic versions i haven't head before; this song by england dan & john ford coley which always makes me feel pleasantly sappy; the new waxahatchee album.
i cooked: i sure did! all i do is cook and wash dishes and cook and wash dishes. i've been roasting a bunch of vegetables (eggplant, peppers, onion, broccoli) seasoned with just salt, olive oil and paprika, and yesterday i added lemon slices on a friend's recommendation. it was delish! i've been bookmarking 'easy' pantry recipes, but really when it comes down to it i just make a grilled cheese or shove some rice in the cooker and call it a day.
that's all, folks! i'll see you all next week.
love,
