everything else: testing, one, two
dear internet,
every two years or so, i wake up one morning and think, oh, i should start writing. this has resulted, variously, in a livejournal from my high school days whose password i've thankfully forgotten, contributions to two excellent websites that no longer exist, a locked wordpress whose password i do remember, where the latest entry is from 2015, and a twitter account i promise to resurrect because i'm kind of proud of it.
and here i go again! this is an experiment, but one i'm pretty sure (she says, with qualified optimism) i can stick to. it's called EVERYTHING ELSE because i'd like it to be about everything i think about that's not the one thing i seem to always be thinking about, which is books. maybe i'll do roundups of what i'm listening to, like the dreamy new sharon van etten, or what i'm watching, or a poem i read recently and loved. maybe i'll do deep dives into some of the things i think about often. maybe you'll want to contribute, too, and talk about all the things you never get to talk about because you always end up talking about one thing!
maybe no one will read this and it will end up being a gorgeously solipsistic personal archive, like my wordpress, and that's fine too. one day i can trawl through hyperlinks that no longer lead anywhere, and reminisce about the wild days of my late twenties when this is what i did instead of everything else i could have been doing!
who knows. let's see. i'm excited, and i hope you'll come along for the ride, too.
