dear internet,

it's been a while. i was, i think, weirdly embarrassed about the last letter i sent out, but i could not unsend it, and so i just stayed quiet. 

how have you been? i'm working in a different room now, which has yellow light (good) and mosquitoes (less good, but bearable). every day the sky is the grey colour of nothing, and i think of a line from a poem we had to memorise when i was sixteen, and all the air a solemn stillness holds. i found my poetry book recently, with its useless pencilled annotations ('the air is still and solemn'). 

every day is another day. i watched five episodes of the first season of new girl and have also begun moonlighting, which is absolutely delightful, please let's bring back shoulder pads and romance via light misogyny to our screens. i can't remember if i've talked about how good perry mason on hbo is, but it is excellent and i highly recommend it. 

i hope everyone's okay and people have stopped expecting you to turn on your video for group calls.
