everything else: five dreams and a screenshot
dear internet,
i’ve been dreaming of being back teaching again, standing in the corridor calling out to my students with familiar, exasperated fondness. or i dream of my grandfather; i dream of him often when the world is particularly unsettled, and then walk through my waking hours missing him constantly. one of my dreams i tried to narrate to my flatmate in german, as practice: ich war in einer bibliothek. ein mann hat sich neben mich gesetzt. er hat gefragt, ob ich einen kamm habe. ich fragte, warum? er sagte, deine haare sind sehr unordentlich. reciting this dream in my duolingo vocabulary made it doubly ridiculous, and of course i was leaving out all the parts i couldn’t put into this language. whenever i dream of elevators they move diagonally. last night i dreamed i was standing in plaza singapura and telling a friend that it was my favourite place in the country, and, later, that i was packing my things from my work desk into garbage bags. when i woke up this morning i found a screenshot in a folder on my laptop i didn't know existed. it says: "Brigitte wants to have her future made. She cannot produce it herself."
