dear internet,

my flatmate doesn't like when we keep bananas in the cabinets, i hate leaving fruit on the countertop because of the flies. everything feels like a compromise except the sunlight sometimes, or when i'm making scrambled eggs. i wish i had a hobby that didn't involve being on my phone, but my father sends us a photo of the crossword daily, and i spend hours whirling letters around in my head, waking up in the middle of the night knowing that 17 down was "wicca". it's not yet properly cold or even properly autumn but every day is the promise of it and i fall asleep wondering if the air will taste different tomorrow. it's a full moon tonight but i couldn't find it the whole way home. from my window i can see only a single star, and my lightbulb twice-reflected in the glass, and the plants on my neighbour's sill.
