this week,
i'm thinking about: what an anti-racism reading list is for. publishing and 'comping white'—books are pitched, acquired and marketed on the basis of comparisons to similar successes ('sally rooney meets fleabag', 'the next gone girl'), and these comparisons are overwhelmingly white. anna james did a twitter thread which reveals similar stats in the uk.
i watched: the first episode of twin peaks. the first half of the last season of mad men. the haunting of hill house, for the second time; it's a show that really rewards a rewatch.
i listened to: my spotify daily mix of instrumental music, which segued from this to this.
that's all for this week; i spent a lot of time reading—something i try not to talk about on here too much because it's all i do everywhere else—and refreshing my groceries app to get a delivery slot. i hope you're all doing okay.
