on my headphones: choir of the mind, breakfast in america, devotion. in the seat in front of me a boy playing candy crush on the inbuilt screen. vague smell of sewage through my mask and outside, the view muted through tinted glass: wide sky, pale hills, trees planted in neat rows, stop-start movement of songbirds in flight, the grass green and smooth like moss, like algae on a calm lake.
