How to avoid breaching copyright with your photos
November 7, 2025 Hello Following Wednesday's Zoom about using photos... One way to avoid breaching copyright when you’re looking for stock photos: search specifically for pictures that give you license to re-use them. My preferred browser has the strange name DuckDuckGo. When I search, it allows me to filter the pictures it shows by, among other things, the right to re-use images, under the term Creative Commons. I daresay that you can also filter that way with other browsers. The picture below is a screenshot from my browser. I was looking for a photo of dark woodland in the UK. I’ve added an arrow to show you the reuse information.
The Woodland Photo on the top is by @jplenio. I used it during this week's [MM] Rescue Session, on Zoom, to mock up a cover for one of our course participants: ![]() |
