terumah: beauty for its own sake
hello friends,
I have had an unfortunate flare-up of some nerve problems, and I have to save the limited amount of time I can type for giving my students feedback and preparing course materials. If you have haShem's number, I have several complaints I would like to lodge about His design.
I don't want to skip a week, so what you get this week is an incredibly low-fi video of me talking about this Torah portion. I hope to make a more thorough, written version of this later when I collect all my thoughts on Shemos.
I want to mention one thing I forgot as a teaser -- the topic of mixing joys comes very close in the Talmud to discussion of the halaxos of mixing seeds.....very intriguing possibilities!
Also, I think this idea comes full-circle to my thoughts several weeks ago on transition. I'm sort of tired of making a value proposition when it comes to transitioning. Even though there is value there! It has effects on the world! But at the same time, there's no reason for transition. There's no use to transition. It simply is, and it is simply beautiful.
Hopefully I'll be back to normal next week :-)
hope you have a good shabbos,
ada
