My name is Flavia and I am Selce's outreach and communications lead. Nice to e-meet you. 

I've added your contact information to our monthly general newsletter and to our (localised and ad-hoc) energy advice bulletin to let you know about the different things that we are up to in our community and the supports that are available to your constituents. 

If you don't know South East London Community Energy (Selce) we are a community energy cooperative that was formed in 2014 by a group of local volunteers who were concerned about the climate crisis. We work in Greenwich, Lewisham, Bromley and Bexley at different levels within the energy system to ensure that people have access to clean and affordable energy. This takes the form of: 

• Impartial energy advice for anyone struggling to pay their bills

• Supporting homeowners make their homes more energy efficient (and accessing grants for those who cannot afford to do it themselves)

• Community financing and upgrading lighting systems in community buildings

• Community financing the installation of solar arrays and selling energy to community buildings at a below market rates. 

I've included details and links below to more information about each of these services below so that should you come across anyone in the community who would benefit from them, you can refer them to us with ease. And, if you are hosting a community event and would like a stall, pop-up energy cafe or workshop please don't hesitate to be in touch. I've included my direct email and number below.

Energy Advice Service

Our service has helped well over 4,000 people to date, through advice over the phone, at drop-in energy cafes, pop-up cafes in partnerships with community groups, and workshops.  We:

• Offer impartial advice on how to pay less for your electricity and gas

• Give you advice about energy debt

• Guide you through applying for discounts and grants

• Share tips & tricks to reduce your energy usage

• Install energy- and water-saving measures in your home that could save you up to £200

• Refer you to our Heat Doctor to maintain your heating system, if you are a qualifying home owner or private renter.

Help for homeowners

We currently deliver two services for homeowners in for Lewisham and Greenwich, and are building up a resource hub on our site to empower homeowners regardless of their geography.  Future Fit Homes is a personalised service, supporting Lewisham and Greenwich homeowners to plan, finance and install home upgrades (such as insulation, double-glazing, or heating upgrades) to make their homes cosier, cheaper to heat and better for the planet.   Love Lofts is a service for homeowners in Greenwich and Lewisham who would like to insulate their lofts but need a helping hand to make it happen.

LEDing the Way: Lighting upgrades for community buildings

So far we have helped 5 sites replace 2655 lamps and save a total of £19k annually and avoided 47.5 metric tonnes of carbon emissions. And, we are currently working with 4 more sites.

Solar for SE London

We currently have 11 solar arrays in SE London on schools, leisure centres, community centres, churches and even at a hotel. We've generated £98k in savings, 2.3m kwh of clean energy and avoided over 550 metric tonned of carbon emmissions. We are currently working with 4 more sites.
