Saving Money on Your Immersion & 6 Things to Check on Home Heating
Immersion Left on Boost? Save Money by Putting on Timer ✅
One of our energy advisors noticed something recently which we wanted to share:
A number of clients with night storage heaters had their immersion heater on boost all of the time.
This can get expensive - instead, setting a programme to heat for a short period each day is usually enough for home hot water needs.
So be sure that you set your immersion to a timer, and that the boost is only used when needed if you run out of hot water.

The following message is for those who maintain their own boiler at home: while we’re not using the heating, it’s easy to forget it’s even there until winter comes around again.
If on testing, your heating is not working, you’re losing pressure, radiator valves don’t work or you notice other issues – you may be eligible for a visit from one of our Heat Doctors.
Our Heat Doctors Simon and Connor are on a mission to help SE Londoners who maintain their own boilers understand their heating systems and make them run as efficiently as possible - find out more here.
Energy Price Cap Going Up from 1 October
The Ofgem price cap is going up on the 1st October, which means higher prices if you are not on a fixed tariff.
The increase in the price cap means that, on average a 2% to 4% increase on energy bills for those on the standard variable tariff, again, on average £60 more per year than before.
The price cap does not limit the total bill which means the more energy you use, the higher your bill will be.
Households should consider switching into to fixed tariff deals to mitigate the impact of the cap increase. Compare and review your energy options to ensure you are getting the best deal, especially in the winter months when we tend to use more energy for heating.
