One Month to the Levy Vote
Voters head to the polls in less than a month, on Tuesday, May 19, to decide on the Emmett School District's supplemental levy. The district has been making its case at public events in recent weeks — including a Farm Bureau executive meeting where Superintendent Woods walked through what a levy failure would mean. Expect more outreach as the vote approaches, and we'll cover any public forums as they're scheduled.
Development
No new construction or business updates this week. SH-16 corridor work continues as previously reported.

Softball: Huskies Rip Off Three Straight Wins, Climb to 5-10
A tough early season has turned a corner. The Emmett softball team strung together three straight conference wins last week — a 3-1 road win over Middleton on April 14, a 26-6 blowout at Columbia on April 16, and a dramatic 6-5 home win over Skyview on April 17. The streak ended with a 12-8 home loss to Nampa on Tuesday.
The Huskies sit at 5-10 overall and 4-7 in conference play, with games at Bishop Kelly on Thursday and home against Caldwell on Friday.
The season-long numbers tell the story of a team carrying several serious threats. Junior Avery Reynolds leads the team with 4 home runs and 28 RBIs, batting .447 with a remarkable .868 slugging percentage. Junior Oakley Scheibe is hitting a team-best .487 with 19 hits, 16 runs, and 12 stolen bases while also anchoring the pitching staff with a 4.34 ERA. Freshman Maci Haskins has been a revelation, batting .389 with 2 home runs and 13 RBIs. Junior Chloe Scott has added 14 RBIs and a team-leading 2 triples.
Baseball: Tough Stretch Continues, But the Stats Show Talent
It's been a rough run. The Huskies dropped five straight this week — losses to Skyview (0-12 on the road), Bishop Kelly (2-4 at home), and Vallivue (1-11 at home) — pushing the overall record to 2-19 and 1-10 in conference. They're at Caldwell tonight.
The record is hard to look at, but individual stat lines paint a more complicated picture. Senior Chris Fowler is batting .407 with a .475 on-base percentage, getting on base more than any other Husky. Junior Layden Korell has 26 hits, 15 runs, and leads the team with 15 stolen bases. Senior Nick Browne has driven in a team-high 15 runs. And sophomore Kyler Sullivan has been the bright spot on the mound with a 1.84 ERA — one of the best in conference.
Freshman Kash Walton is contributing both ways, with the team's only home run and 12 RBIs. There's talent here. The wins haven't followed yet.
