Little Joys
(I'm rebranding this ending section for the new year to be "Little Joys" instead of "Art I've Been Enjoying"!! It'll still include my recs, but is just expanded to appreciate other aspects of my day to day that are lifting me up lately and that maybe you can take into yours too xo)
Listening to 70s music in the mornings. There's nothing like Carol King or Fleetwood Mac or Joni to really set the tone for my days, dancing in the kitchen and bathroom as I get ready.
Re-finding the magic in New York. It's never lost to me entirely, but always expanding, and requires some maintenance, like tilling the soil. I've been making my way through season 2 of The Unsleeping City, a D&D actual play show about a secret magical modern day New York. My friend also put the song I Guess The Lord Must Be In New York City by Harry Nilsson on a playlist for me, and playing that in my earbuds as I walk through midtown and take the subway makes me feel like I'm in a movie.
Making myself beautiful little breakfasts. I've added a modified version of this Chocolate Cardamom Oat Bowl to my breakfast rotation, and boy howdy does it make me happy. Something about sprinkling pomegranate seeds on anything is instant serotonin. One of my 23 esoteric resolutions for the year is "decorate your life with beautiful things" and this absolutely counts.

I'm glad you're here!
Joyful Januarys to you,
Em
