NYPL concert video and thoughts on fall

Hi hello my good fall fellows,

Autumn is upon us! It has been grey and rainy in New York since the equinox, and I am struck with love for my favorite season. Cups of tea by the window, Halloween here before you know it, the changing of the leaves, the perfect weather to wear my favorite thrifted forest green corduroy jacket. Everything all pumpkin and maple and apple and comfort.

I love summer, but it's sense of urgency often leaves me inevitably disappointed. But fall every year gathers me up in a warm blanket and kisses me with its light chill. Summer shouts "you must savor every moment you can to its absolute fullest potential before it goes away!", whereas fall whispers "change is the way of the world. nothing lasts forever- good! look at how much beauty is to be found in the fleeting and the dying."

NYPL Concert Video

Last November I was asked to perform a set at the New York Public Library in midtown as part of their "Corner Space Live" series! The entire set was filmed, and just went live on their youtube channel last month. You can check out the full performance here at this link.

Little Joys

  • I recently finished reading "Book of Delights" by Ross Gay. He challenged himself to write a short essay (an essayette) on something that delighted him every day for a year, and then compiled the best hundred or so into this book. After finishing it I now walk around with a little lightbulb that goes off in my head, signalling- delight! delight! delight!

  • This weekend I went out to lunch after a lovely morning at the MoMA with a friend, and when I ordered an earl grey it came in a little teapot, so I could pour my own glasses into a cup that had no handles, so that every time I had to take a sip I had to cradle it with both of my hands.

I'm glad you're here!

Fall-in' for u,
