house for the holidays and spotify wrapped
hail and well met my fellow gifts and presents,
Can you believe it's December on Friday?! This year has truly flown by, but I am crossing my fingers that it slows down just enough to let me sink into all the joys of the holidays.
If you're looking for a super unique gift for that special person in your life, you know where to find me :)
Last Show of the Year!
Whether you are attending in person in NYC or want to tune in on the livestream, now is the time to RSVP to Keepsake House's House for the Holidays Concert! I'm so excited to be playing tunes alongside my fellow Artists in Residence for 2024 for the first time.
No cover, $15 food and drink min, and all proceeds go towards helping Keepsake House continue to put on amazing showcases!
Hope to see you there :)

Spotify Wrapped
It is always a trip to try to wrap my head around these numbers. 145 countries is more countries than I know???? 7.4K hours adds up to 308 days, which means that the equivalent of almost 85% of the year someone somewhere was listening to one of my songs. Nuts!! I simply cannot process it and must go lay down on the floor.

One of the most unexpected downsides of working full time as a musician is that it's been extremely difficult to motivate myself to work on my personal music project in my free time. After a full work day of writing and recording, it's hard to go back to Garageband for another few hours in the evening. And I'm a little bummed that I've only put out one song this year and one last year! But I hope in 2024 I'm able to put out a bunch more music for you - there's a whole bunch in the process that I'm really excited about.

Bandcamp Friday
Every year I do get on my mini soapbox about how Spotify only pays artists 0.003 per stream, which means you would've had to stream a song 330 times for an artist to make just one dollar from it. And next year Spotify is planning on implementing new practices that means smaller artists will be making even less!!
If there was an independent artist whose music resonated with you this year, I highly recommend sending them a dollar or two through Bandcamp this Friday December 1st!! Every first friday of the month, Bandcamp waves their fee so that more money goes directly towards artists.

Little Joys
I've somehow become a person who loves the cold this year. There is something about that delicious sting against your face that makes your remember so viscerally that you are ALIVE.
So much about this season of the year makes my heart warm. Sharing food with people I love. Holiday lights going up all around the city, holiday markets popping up in the parks. Hot cocoa and bundling up and indie acoustic Christmas covers.

I'm glad you're here.
with a bow on top,
Em
