final performance of 2023!

hi hello hey november babes,

This year is truly flying by! But Christmastime in New York is one of my favorite times of year so I'm very excited that it's coming soon. Lights on the trees on the street, my yearly pilgrimage to Rockefeller and FAO Schwartz, holiday markets popping up everywhere. It all makes the fact that the sun sets before 5pm more bearable.

Speaking of the holidays...

Keepsake House's Holiday Fundraiser Show!

My last show of the year and my first show as an artist in residence for Keepsake House will be on December 8th! Come by and see all of the new fantastic artists in residence for the upcoming year and support Keepsake House's amazing programming! Entry is free with a $15 min food or bev purchase, and donations are not required but highly encouraged so that Keepsake House can continue to support artists like me. Little Joys

  • This morning I listened to the new FIZZ album (which is a band that constitutes of two of my long time fave songwriters dodie and Orla Gartland and some of their friends) and I am promptly obsessed!! What a raucous and infectious good time with massive vocal stacks and often silly but still very heartfelt lyricism. Immediate favorites are Strawberry Jam, Close One, and I Just Died, but I highly recommend the whole album experience.

  • Opening my mailbox to find my first piece of penpal correspondence from my friend (who equally laments over how much texting sucks) was an absolute highlight of my week. To receive a letter! To write a letter! Delight delight delight.

  • I had a great little extended Halloween weekend which included an afternoon dance party (!!) at House of Yes, where I was pulled up onto the center platform I'd been eyeing my whole time there to dance by another group of friends. I'd go out dancing much more if more dance parties in the city didn't start after 10pm! For this one I was home by 8pm after grabbing egg and cheese scallion pancakes from Win Son and tucking in to rewatch the Twilight movies with friends.

from a Candlelight Studio Ghibli string concert which was also a joy!

I'm glad you're here.

It's giving thanks,

Em
