3 reviews, 2 tunes, 1 show
hi hi hi apples of my eye,
How is it November already?? I swear it was just July yesterday. I've got a bunch of things to cover today, so let's jump right into it like a big pile of leaves!
Two Tunes For You
teenage dream / back of a car has been out for three weeks as of today!! It's just shy of 1000 streams on Spotify, which is the fastest growth I've seen so far for a release. If you can, give it another stream or two today so we can pass the 1000 mark on the three week anniversary!!
Three blogs have featured the track so far, and I've been so touched by all the kind things people have had to say. Here's some blurbs from each:
"Fading in with reverberated, amplified guitar strums left to ring out, ‘teenage dream / back of a car’ from the get-go establishes itself to be more of an emotional journey than simply a song to be heard. Emily’s vocals atop this atmospheric haze of sound feel right at home, capturing a sense of stirring emotion in her haunting delivery, with every word echoing off into the distance as if she were sat on a stage alone left to sadly sing her woes away." - Existential Magazine
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Capturing all of the emotions within general “teenage yearning” is a tall task, but one that Emily McNally takes on with apparent ease on “teenage dream // back of a car.”....With painfully relatable lyricism and melancholy production to match, this is one you’ll definitely want to store away for your rainy day listening sessions." - The Luna Collective
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"With a warm and alluring vocal style spread across a sparse and atmospheric alt-pop production throughout, Emily is continuing to pitch themselves as one of the more captivating names on the rise right now." - Mystic Sons

I also surprise dropped a demo on streaming a week before Halloween called forever with you, which is a electric guitar heavy pop-punk-y bop about vampires so if that's your jam, go check that one out too!!! Even though the holiday has now passed, Halloween is still a state of mind that I am always in lol

I am excited to be hopefully releasing lots of new tracks and demos in 2023!! I'm way overdue to stop hoarding my music in countless drafts and voice memos and just put them out there without being precious about it (I have a document with lyrics for 52 unreleased COMPLETED songs and that doesn't even touch the ones that are half finished). I'm ready to go. I don't need to overthink it.
Bandcamp Friday
If you don't already know, Bandcamp is a site where you can purchase music from independent artists to stream or to download! The first Friday of every month, Bandcamp waives it's fee and all the money goes directly towards supporting independent artists like me! It's pay what you wish (recommended $1 per track or $9 for my whole discography!) .
Streaming services hardly pay artists anything (0.004 cents per stream, to be exact), so if you're a fan of my music and primarily use Spotify or Apple Music, please consider sending me a dollar or two through Bandcamp to help me continue making music for you! The Holidays Are Just Around The Corner....
Which means it's the perfect time to beat the rush and place your order with me for a custom song to give your loved one as a gift!!!
Whether for your partner, friend, family member, coworker, or anyone in between, I do a wide range of songs and styles, from heartfelt romantic ballads to fun silly uptempo songs! You can see samples of my work on my profile here: fiverr.com/emilymcnally5
If you are interested in a song before the holidays, send me a message on Fiverr letting me know that you are subscribed to this newsletter, and I'll get you set up with a 15% discount off your order!

I just completed my 500th song with Fiverr last week. 500 of my lil tunes bouncing around all over the world. What a cool thing.
Live Music at the Library
This month I am so excited to be playing a set at the New York Public Library for their Corner Space Live event!! I'll also be selling a limited stock of CDs for the first time there (half with The Gardener EP on them, and half with all the singles since then on them!).
If you can't make it to the library gig but are still interested in a CD, send me a message and we'll work out how to get one to you!! :)
Details:
Friday, November 18th, 6pm-7pm
Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library, 40th St and 5th Ave
Free to attend, no registration required! Cash recommended if you want to purchase a CD (~$6)
Art I've Been Enjoying
I didn't know the Met was open til 9pm on Fridays and Saturdays until recently, and it was very cool to be there at night! Every time I go I am always surprised by how much I haven't seen. This time around, I checked out the new exhibits in the Native American section and a collection of pottery, and also old favorites like the Musical Instruments wing and The Storm by Pierre Auguste Cot.
Tracks I've loved this week: touch tank by quinnie, Pictures of Us by beabadoobee, Bends by Carly Rae Jepsen, Medieval by Finneas
Even though it hasn't happened yet, I am certain that seeing The 1975 at Madison Square Garden on Monday is going to change my life once again. I cannot WAIT.
I'm glad you're here.
Warmly and cozily,
Em
