“A little bit of glue.”

That’s what my beloved, genius of a psychiatrist said I needed when we spoke a few of weeks ago, for the first time in several years.

Funny thing is, I knew it - I’ve known it for the past 6 months, in fact. 

But because the conditions we have been and still are meeting in life are so intensely hard, I just assumed how I was feeling was relative to all of that. And, there is some truth to that - these are the hardest months of my life.

And, because as a yoga & meditation teacher and a life coach who’s job is to literally help other people take care of themselves on all the levels so they can be and feel their best... I assumed that I could “self-care” my way out of it. 

I’m sharing this with you because I want you to know that we all have a threshold. We all have an amount of stress, difficulty, heartbreak that we can handle.

That threshold is upheld and maintained by doing all the things we know we can - exercising, sleeping, eating well, staying hydrated, meditating, socializing, nourishing our brains, feeding our souls, etc.

But when the conditions of life relentlessly bring exhaustion and emotional depletion while also making it incredibly challenging for us to do all the things to keep that threshold in tact, it will crumble.

Don’t let anyone else’s ideas about well-being, mental health and what self-care “should” look like get in the way of you taking care of you. 

This little bit of glue has been a total game-changer for me. Nothing has changed and yet everything has changed. Life is still being life and I’m still doing all the things I know to do. But, now, those things are actually sustaining me.

On that note, I'm sharing this article again on the 7 kinds of rest. As many of you have heard me say, using these 7 "buckets" when it comes to reflecting upon your well-being is super useful. But, along with considering the areas in which you truly need rest, also consider which areas are "depleted" from not being more fully nourished or fed.

 My Annual Retreat is *TENTATIVELY* scheduled for Oct 21-24 2021 in Hot Springs, NC.

Daily yoga & meditation, incredible food, hiking on the Appalachian Trail, fire pits, space and time for rest and connection.

I've opened up a few spots in my ongoing Weekly Meditation & Coaching Groups (aka The School of Unlearning) - this is a rare opportunity to join, so please let me know if you are interested!

We all have learned who to be, what to be, and how to be in this world. This conditioned way of operating in the world keeps us limited in our relationship to our life as it directs us, unconsciously, in the choices we make, the actions we take, and in what we believe about ourselves and the world.

Through awareness-based coaching tools & practices, we have the chance to begin to undo the unconscious parts of ourselves that have us operating in a state of unrecognized reactivity to life. The support and presence of a group of committed peers helps guide individuals in personal growth and transformation. This is the School of Unlearning. No prior meditation experience necessary.

Two group options (all via Zoom):  
Tuesdays, 4-5pm (beginning 3/2) - 
Wednesdays, 4-5pm (beginning 3/17)
Cost: $225 for 12-week session (email me to discuss payment plans and/or need based-assistance)
