I don't know about you but I've been feeling the deep need to be INÂ community these past several months -- like WITH people, in real life. Not via Zoom, not via social media.
The thing is, the signs that I need community don't always create the motivation to put me in community...Â
Here's what I mean:
>> I have felt alone and isolated // which makes me stay alone and isolate more

>> I have felt depleted // which makes me feel like I don't have the energy to go out and connectÂ
>> I have felt overwhelmed and busy // which makes me feel like I don't have the time to anything other than what I'm already doing
>> I have felt disconnected // which makes me feel like I have forgotten that connection is possible
When the motivation (or lack thereof)Â seems to be working against the needs, I have discovered that I need to pay more attention to the signs of need more than what is motivating me... I need to pay more attention to what's calling me and less attention to what's shutting me down.Â
And then I need to rely, sometimes, on sheer willpower to motivate an action.
This isn't always easy. I know. The energy it takes to work to fill the need doesn't always and immediately return to us. But a little bit does - perhaps just enough to put the effort in again... and again… which inevitably fills us more and more.Â
So, today, I’m here to encourage you to listen to what you’re craving, needing, wanting, wishing for… and take one small action that moves you towards fulfillment of that thing. Don’t expect instant “results” but do stay motivated to do the work.
And, on that note, this Fall, there are so many ways to join me in community. Can't wait to be there with you.
