Spring Yoga & Meditation Retreat

RETREAT INFORMATION

 

First, YAY! So glad you’re joining us on what is sure to be an amazing weekend retreat!

Second, below are some details about the weekend including a tentative schedule, what to bring, and a few other details. So read through and don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions!

 

Dates: April 12 - April 15 2018

Location: Heartstone Retreat, Buena Vista Virginia (www.heartstoneretreat.com)

The Retreat: This year's retreat will include morning and evening meditation, twice daily yoga classes, Mary's cooking Q & A session, as well as an opportunity to do a deep-dive "Posture Lab" workshop with me. We will share dinner on Thursday evening, all meals on Friday and Saturday and end retreat with pleasantly full bellies after a hearty Sunday brunch. To provide additional opportunity for introspection, quietness and mindfulness, we will be incorporating morning silence each day until after meditation and breakfast are complete.

Food: All of our meals are being planned and prepared in-house by the fabulous Mary Silcox. She is returning again with us this year to provide us with the most delicious and exceptionally nourishing food for our retreat. All meals are vegetarian and dietary restrictions or needs will be honored and incorporated. I'm also delighted that she'll be taking some time out of the kitchen to do a little cooking Q & A during which she'll share some of her ayurvedic-inspired tips & tricks in the kitchen. She will also have some special items on site 

Tentative Schedule:

Thursday 4/12 

                 - 3-5:30pm > Arrival/Check-In/Open Time (please follow the instructions sent to you from Heartstone regarding checking in for your accommodations - I will not have access to the rooms/cabins)

                 - 5:30-6pm > Welcome; Intention-Setting (2nd floor of the barn)

                 - 6:30pm > Dinner

 

Friday 4/13

                - 8-8:30am > Guided Meditation

                - 8:30-10:30am > Breakfast & Open Time

                - 10:30am-12pm > Mindful Flow Yoga

                - 12:30-2:30pm > Lunch & Open Time

                - 2:30-4pm > Posture Lab / Asana Q & A

                - 4-5:30pm > Gentle Yoga & Yoga Nidra

                - 6:30pm > Dinner

                - 8-8:30pm > Guided Meditation

 

Saturday 4/14

                - 8-8:30am > Guided Meditation

                - 8:30-10:30am > Breakfast & Open Time

                - 10:30am-12pm > Mindful Flow Yoga

                - 12:30-2:30pm > Lunch & Open Time

                - 2:30-4:00pm > Cooking Q & A w/Mary!

                - 4:30-5:30pm > Gentle Yoga & Yoga Nidra

                - 6:30pm > Dinner

                - 8-8:30pm > Guided Meditation

 

Sunday 4/15

                - 8-9am > Rise & Shine Yoga

                - 9-11am > Sunday Brunch & Check-out of Rooms

           

What to Bring:

The retreat center has plenty of yoga mats and meditation cushions to borrow but a very limited number of props (blocks, blankets, bolsters, straps). I will be bringing some, but if you have any of your own or know you’ll want some, please plan to bring them.

Please also plan to bring:

  • Yoga clothes

  • Comfortable clothes and shoes for hiking and relaxing (bring layers! Since we'll be in the mountains, we'll have lovely cool mornings and evenings with warmer days)

  • Toiletries

  • Water bottle

  • Journal

  • Any additional snacks/food that you may want in addition to the daily meals
